Powdery mildew is a common disease that harms tomatoes. It mainly harms the leaves, petioles and fruits of tomato plants.
What are the symptoms of tomato powdery mildew?
For tomatoes grown in the open air, the leaves, petioles, and fruits of the plants are likely to be infected. Among them, the leaves are the most affected, followed by the stems, and the fruits are relatively less damaged.
At the initial stage of the disease, small green spots will appear on the petioles and leaf surfaces of the plants, and then gradually expand, showing irregular pink spots with white flocs on them.
At the beginning, the mold layer is relatively sparse, and then dense, showing felt-like, diseased spots and gradually spreading around.
When the disease is serious, the leaves of the plant will be covered with white powder and gradually connect into pieces, and the leaves will turn yellow and brown. Only the branches remain.
Tomato disease conditions:
1. High humidity is the main factor for the occurrence of diseases, and cold weather is also suitable for the occurrence of powdery mildew. The suitable temperature for onset is 16-24℃.
2. The suitable humidity for the germination of desiccation-resistant conidia is 97-99%, and the water film is unfavorable for the germination of spores.
3. After it rains, the weather is dry, the field humidity is high, and powdery mildew is prone to occur.
4. Especially when high temperature and drought alternate with high temperature and high humidity, the disease is severe.
