Wheat is an important food crop in the world, and more than 40% of the world’s population eats wheat as the staple food. The author has recently been interested in herbicides for wheat fields, and has successively introduced veterans of various wheat field herbicides. Although new agents such as pinoxaden are constantly coming out, considering that the control of some special weeds in wheat fields and the single target of new agents requires products with unique mechanism of action & not easy to produce resistance to be mixed to achieve the effect of double elimination , reducing the cost of field use, etc., some old faces are still the main force of weeding in wheat fields, and continue to play an irreplaceable role. The product described below is the nemesis of broadleaf weeds in wheat fields, the most commonly used formulation, extremely low temperature resistant, highly safe for wheat, and economical. This herbicide is Florasulam.
Florasulam is the fifth triazole pyrimidine successfully developed by Dow AgroSciences in the mid-1990s after sulfentrazone, sulfentrazone, dicoxsulam and sulfentrazone. Sulfonamide herbicides. It was reported in 1998-1999, mainly used for the control of broad-leaved weeds in wheat fields. Prevention effect. Since it was put on the market in 2000, it has been one of Dow AgroSciences’ sales growth point, and the growth rate has been relatively good in recent years.
Mechanism of Action
Florasulam belongs to the triazolopyrimidine sulfonamide class of herbicides and is a typical acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor. By inhibiting acetolactate synthase in plants, it hinders the biosynthesis of side chain amino acids such as valine, leucine and isoleucine, so that cell division is inhibited, the normal growth of weeds is destroyed, and weeds die.
Florasulam has systemic conductivity, which can be absorbed by plant leaves and roots, transmitted to the whole weed plant, and accumulated in the meristem to cause plant death. Therefore, the weeds are completely killed and there will be no recurrence.
Application
Florasulam is mainly used for post-emergence stem and leaf treatment in wheat fields to control broad-leaved weeds, including Artemisia somnifera, shepherd’s purse, wild rape, pig’s calamity, chickweed, beef chickweed, big nest, rice chakra, yellow Quail, Maijiagong and other difficult-to-control weeds, and have a very good inhibitory effect on the difficult-to-control Ze Lacquer (Euphorbiaceae) in wheat fields. It can also be used for barley, corn, soybean, cotton, sunflower, potato, pome fruit, onion and grassland, pasture, etc. The application period is wide, and it can be used before winter to early spring.
Outlook
Florasulam has better application advantages and is an unmissable herbicide for wheat fields. However, the disadvantage of Florasulam is that the speed of dead grass is relatively slow and the action site is single. Therefore, it is necessary to make full use of its long and avoid its short to maximize the market life.
