Acetochlor is a selective herbicide for bud pre-treatment. It is mainly absorbed by the coleoptile of monocotyledons or the hypocotyl of dicotyledons. After absorption, it conducts upward. It inhibits cell growth mainly by hindering protein synthesis, stopping the growth of weeds' young buds and roots, and then dying. The ability of gramineous weeds to absorb acetochlor is stronger than that of broadleaf weeds, so the control effect of gramineous weeds is better than that of broadleaf weeds. The duration of acetochlor in soil is about 45 days.
